If you have a business website the current changes to the search engines may affect the flow of traffic to your site. Just this year, Google made algorithm changes that shifted the results of the search engine with every use. But what are those changes and how do they relate to the business web design industry?
According to Google, their page searches would now be exposed to altered parameters. Basically, the new project “Panda” is meant to detect low quality content in high ranking domains. Termed as “content farms”, these sites only provide a few articles and guides without really providing something useful. These sites often regurgitate content that has already been published. Due to Google’s focus on reducing the number of content farms in their index, this update is sometimes referred to as the “farmer” update.
For this reason, Amit Singhal, head of Google Search revealed through a blog that some changes will affect currently existing sites. Although the company remains secretive about their new algorithm, they did release a set of guiding information that could help those concerned.
* Ask yourself if you trust the data provided by the domain.
* Is this domain the kind that you would be willing to provide credit card information to?
* Is the subject something in which the writer is an expert of?
* Are there spelling or factual errors?
* Do the articles discuss the same thing, only reworded to sound different?
* Does the content on the site offer comprehensive advice or help?
This information should be able to provide site owners with guidance about what they need to conform to with Google’ new system. Ultimately, the Google updates work to be beneficial to those websites that provide quality and comprehensive content, allowing them to be within the top spots in the search pages.
