Will Google + Spell The End For Web Hosting

Published by Richard Hollins on July 19th, 2011 - in Domain Names

Google + is still only in its testing state but already people are making tall claims for it. Some of the claims are that it will become even more successful than social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook but others claims are that it could do away with the need for websites and blogs.

If this were to happen then will there still be a need for web hosting in the future? It could be the case that Google + is something that will really change things in the future. But we can be sure that things will definitely be given a shake up by it.

At the moment there are only a limited number of people using Goggle +~Only a very limited number of people are using Google + at the moment. But of those who are using it, a large number of them have said they will be getting rid of their websites so they can focus on this new social media site.

Although it is early days, it would seem that Google + seems to offer so much more to the person who wants to be able to create a lot of content than other social media websites such as Facebook can offer. Other benefits are that it will not cost anything to use and it is said to be very user friendly.

It is still too early to predict how Google + will affect web hosting. There was similar talk about other projects over the past few years such as Buzz and Google Wave. Neither of these much talked about projects lived up to anywhere near the hype.

Maybe the same will be true for Google +~It might just be that the same thing happens with Google +~We could see the same scenario with Google +. Only time will tell in this situation. No matter how successful this platform becomes, there are still going to be people who will want to have their own blogs and websites. It could be a big risk to tie all your fortunes to Google and some people will want to avoid this at all costs.

If you are looking for web hosting then pixel internet are your number one choice, the UK’s best web Hosting company.

How WordPress Plays A Significant Role To Politicians

Published by Lesley Church on July 18th, 2011 - in Domain Names

A while ago, being a political candidate meant that you had to pay a handsome amount of cash to web design and maintenance companies if you wanted a professional website to blow your trumpet in a political campaign. Today, things are quite different as a political candidate can start by himself, his own website and manage the content freely by using WordPress.

When WordPress first came out, it was mainly a domain of bloggers and forums. However, it has these days become a choice program for news providers, reviewers, magazines and non-governments.

WordPress is highly recommended to political campaigners because the whole idea of running it is simple yet effective in getting audience.

Getting started is an easy step. You should choose from the plenty of ready-made templates available free. These will give you a blend of looks and designs. The idea behind WordPress themes is with a simple click, to provide a “what you see is what you get” package for your site.

Choosing of the template is the other major step. One should choose that template which suits most the political campaigns attribute. These come up in different more advanced but simpler to use templates every year. You therefore need to sign up to a hosting company to upload a WordPress website.

Then you can purchase a domain name and then go to the stage of installing the WordPress on that paid for domain server. These will normally give you passwords and codes needed to administrate.

The work of an administrator will be to do frequent changes on the websites. For variety’s sake, WordPress allows you to switch between a variety of banners, backgrounds, fonts and color schemes. The good news is that you can always download these different ideas from other sites free.

These said, it is obvious that one does not have to pay excessively to get a website up and running. On the contrary, there are people who will loose hundreds of thousands in revenue for no reason. Spare yourself the drama; use WordPress.

The Complex Concept Of Creating A Website Involves Choosing A Good Domain Name

Published by Mike Windsor on July 16th, 2011 - in Domain Names

Selecting a good website name is paramount when designing a website. It is the first thing that people see when visiting your website, so it is comparable to making a good first impression.

You cannot change of domain name; once you choose one, it remains the same until you buy another one. It can be frustrating trying to pick a domain name; you want to pick something that properly represents you or your company, and this can be a difficult process.

The domain name has the same weight that the company name has. People will remember it and, if your company is primarily web-based, may even use the domain name more often than they use the company name.

The easiest way to make a brand name is to just use your company’s name. However, someone else may have already claimed that name; if this is the case, try adding your location to your domain name.

Of all the websites on the Internet, distinguishing yourself from others like you is very important. Having a location in your domain name helps this process greatly. It narrows your target audience and further defines your company in the eye of whoever is visiting your website. For example, ceilingfans.com is most probably taken already; Springfieldceilngfans.com is much more likely to be available.

The specificity of your domain name can make all the difference between driving a huge amount of traffic to your site and getting only a couple visitors a day. When developing your brand, you should always be mindful of techniques to improve and refine your target market.

Adding other words the beginning of your domain name, such as “the” or “my”, is a good way to circumvent the problematic issue of having your chosen domain name picked by someone else before you. It also grants a sense of familiarity to your name by adding a personal touch.

Building a website can be a pretty challenging venture. Use these tips to aid you in your process.

Tips To Choose The Correct Domain Name For Your Internet Business

Published by Sean Pinner on July 15th, 2011 - in Domain Names

Looking for a domain name when you are starting up your online business can be a challenge, even though it seems like a small detail. The right name is important because without a good name, your company will not be properly represented. The best thing to do is find something relevant and catchy.

If you look below, you will notice some of the mistakes that other companies have made, and by avoiding them, you can increase your chances of a positive experience.

One big and common mistake is that people use names that are way too long. It should be something that is short and sweet, because people really don’t like typing long names into their browsers.

The general rule of thumb is to keep the domain name short. Not only does a long name turn people off, but it also can lead to typing mistakes that will take them to another site other than yours.

Making your domain name confusing will also cause a lot of problems, so it should be avoided. Not unlike a vanity plate you see on a car, they can either be good or bad, but they should make sense and be easy to read and remember.

There are three things to keep in mind when you are picking your domain name that will help your site be taken seriously. It needs to be clear, where people can easily type it. It also should be concise, as well as clever. Make it catchy, but at the same time not something people will make fun of.

One other big mistake that is common is the use of dashes in the domain name. These can be annoying, lead to typing errors, and they just do not reflect a business well. Try and limit your name to something that just has words.

One more note on dashes. They are better served in sites that do online business only. This is because most people will be clicking links directly to the site. However, for someone who has to enter the name into their browser, it will be very easy for them to put the dash in the wrong place and get sent somewhere completely different than your company.

Vital Ingredients Of A Successful Web Host

Published by Fred Smith on July 14th, 2011 - in Domain Names

You will find that there is a lot of competition in the web hosting industry. Many of those people who decide to get into the business ultimately fail. Although there are many reasons why a web hosting business might not make it, in most cases it will be down to the fact that the web host didn’t have what it takes to make it work.

In order to keep your web hosting business afloat, there are a number of skills that the owner will have to have; not having these skills means that there is more chance of failure. Below are a few of the ingredients that a person will need in order to make a web hosting business successful.

Providing good customer service is essential. This is vital if you want to make it in the business. Customers have a lot of choice when it comes to web hosting and if you can’t provide them with the customer service they require then they will just take their business somewhere else.

There are many customers who will have unrealistic expectations but it is up to the web hosting provider to manage them correctly. The reason for this is because every unsatisfied customer will tell ten people about their experience. This means that just a few unhappy clients could cause a lot of damage to your web hosting business.

You have to be willing to put in long hours and be motivated. This really is not the business for you if you don’t want to work longer than nine to five every day. You will probably have customers based all over the world if you are lucky and they will all be working at different times so they will need to be able to contact you. Until you are a large enough business to employ a lot of employees you need to prepare yourself for long hours.

You have to be able to research. You will need to be able to do this all of the time. You will have to be able to keep on top of goings on in the web hosting world and be able to find new customers.

Web Hosting: What Is It For?

Published by Sakis Mavromatis on July 13th, 2011 - in Domain Names

If you are planning to begin your first website you might be a bit unsure about how to go about it. One of the most confusing aspects can be web Hosting. What is web hosting and what is it for? And you may find it even more confusing when you realise that there is actually so many different options available. Hopefully the information in this article will help you to understand it a bit better.

Why Web Hosting is So Important

The truth is that web hosting is not something that you have to have. You could always consider hosting your website on your own. However this could work out pretty pricey and you would have to have the expertise to do this. The truth of the matter is that when it comes to web hosting, most of us need to get someone else to do it for us.

By getting someone else to host your website, you do not have to learn all about hosting and you don’t have to pay for your own server.

Without web hosting, your website would not have an online presence and it would not be accessible by other people. Whenever we look at a website or want to look at a particular website, the data is sent from the server and not the actual website. All the content of your website will be on this server and once another person requests a page the information will be sent to their computer.

Why Do We Have So Many Web Hosting Choices?

There are a lot of web hosting options to choose from. No matter what industry you are looking at, you will find that if people can make money from it, there will be plenty of choice. And when it comes to web hosting, you will also find that there are plenty of free options available.

But don’t be fooled into thinking that free web hosting is provided by a charity organisation; the truth is that these hosts just make their money a different way. You get more freedom when you pay for web hosting so this is usually the better option.

Tips To Choose a Good Domain Name

Published by Andrew William on July 10th, 2011 - in Domain Names

Your domain Name is the center of your Internet identity. So what type of things should you take into consideration when choosing the name that will represent you on the Web? As you probably heard, domain names are the real state of the 21st century. Whether you want to build a personal blog of a startup company, the first step will be to find a good and available domain name. Before buying your domain name, give some thought to the following

The Shorter The Better – A domain name can be up to 63 characters in length, including the ending. However, your goal here should be to apply the shortest use of characters possible. If torn between a couple different names, you may do well to simply pick the shorter one. Not only does this require less typing by your visitors, it also usually conveys greater credibility. To reach your goal easily, it’s better to have a catchy and easy to remember domain name.

Hyphens are trouble makers – Domain names can only use letters, numbers, and dashes. Spaces and symbols are not allowed. Also, domain names are not case sensitive. But it’s better to avoid number and hyphens in your domain name. Hyphenated domain names are really hard for folks to remember. Think before choosing a hyphenated name. It’s easy to forget the hyphen! It is a problem, particularly if your customer remembers your website name but not the URL of your website.

Extension to your domain name – There are a lot of different domain name extensions out there. From .net to .us, which ones should you buy? That depends on the customers that you are focusing. If your business is a local one and if you are not planning to trade outside, then its better to choose a domain name with the extension of your local area. There is no evidence that any domain name type is given preference by the search engines. However some search engines such as Google, have local searches e.g www.google.co.uk which do select local content. In such cases domain type can help you a lot. Do register the domain name in the correct global or country level domain. For universal appeal use a .com, .info, .biz, .org, or .net domain. For local appeal use an appropriate domain in your country, such as .co.uk or .org.au.

Keyword filled domain name – When search engine users query some keywords or key phrases, search engines will scan through all web pages including the URL (where the domain name sits) for the queried keywords, then return lists of results and rank those web pages according to their relevance and importance. That said, embracing your domain name with queried keywords will add some weight to the relevance of topic being searched for, and this may result in your web page getting ranked a few hundred positions higher than those whose web pages’ URL do not contain the queried keywords. If your domain is having keyword, then it’s likely to get higher rank in this search.

Choose the right Domain Type – There is no evidence that any domain name type is given preference by the search engines.

If your domain name can be easily remembered then you will attract more customers. People will use your web site or email address to get immediate and convenient access to the information or service that you are providing. Domain names are portable. You can move physical address, change phone numbers, change Internet service providers, change the company that hosts your web site, and still keep the same domain name. This provides an extremely flexible method of keeping in touch with your customers and users.

Specialist Needs In Terms Of Mail Servers

Published by Tony Savvides on July 5th, 2011 - in Domain Names

For a lot of the time you would never need to have a server for any specialist need because until it was pointed out to you it wouldn’t have been an issue. Gmail was a free email service that many companies were using for their email requirements but there is now a limit on the number of accounts you can access; you can only have ten free accounts. So what happens when your email needs begin to grow?

A lot of companies will never have even considered an email marketing campaign because they just wanted something that would not cost a fortune and which would be easy to maintain as well as reliable. Web based companies could also be faced with more issues here that need to be addressed.

For instance if the company has a web presence and their hosting provides areas for their clients or they are selling hosting services themselves then their clients would need their own email address as part of the package. The big problems will occur when a client is running their email on the same server as their website. This can cause some serious problems if not handled properly not just with security issues but fail safe problems.

A web based company would face a nightmare scenario if their website were to go down but if the email went down at the same time then things could get much worse.

This is always a possibility when all your eggs are in one basket with one hosting package for your website and email. If on the other hand, the two were separate, you would be able to communicate with your customers via email if your website was down.

This would reduce the amount of calls you would have to handle and other customer service issues would also be curbed. The reality is that when it comes to your email and website packages, you need to have them separate so that at least one of them can be up and running at all times.

The Winners In Terms Of Cloud Computing

Published by Paul Partridge on July 3rd, 2011 - in Domain Names

A recent report has brought many of the world’s top web hosting companies that provide Cloud computing services fame and most likely fortune as well. The report that is put together by Nine Lives Media ranked the top 50 in the industry and being named in the top ten is the commercial equivalent of a blank cheque given the current uptake in cloud computing services.

The report which was aptly named the Talkin’ Cloud report takes in to account not only the cloud computing providers but also the people that sold the services in a reseller capacity. Just the simple fact that a ranking system was created for this purpose shows that cloud computing is becoming very popular.

Some have put the report down to nothing more than a publicity stunt but Nine Lines media seem to have nothing to gain from this other than news worthy material. There is no money on offer to motivate Nine Lines to rank certain companies well which gives even more confidence in the worthiness of the report.

The figures that are reported for revenue for these top fifty companies in the hosting of cloud services have risen by more than $100 million last year which is just short of a 50% increase on the year before. You can tell that this is a great service for customers because of this dramatic increase.

Infrastructure and software tend to be the two most popular from all the products and services that are on offer from these companies. And the platform to run everything on is provided by around 42% of all the firms in the list.

When you look at the names of the companies that are involved as cloud partners such as Amazon and Google, you can see that cloud computing is at the cutting edge of web hosting technology.

If you are looking for hosting then pixel internet are your number one choice, the UK’s best web hosting company.
